Krejci Chokes, Bruins Lose 3rd Straight

Former Bruin Phil Kessel finally got his revenge, scoring two goals leading the Leafs of Toronto over Boston 4-3 at the TD Garden. For Kessel it was his first two goals in 10 games against his former club.

With the game tied 3-3, Leaf sniper Mikhail Grabovski dangled through two Bruin' defenders and sniped high, short side on Vezina Trophy canidate Tim Thomas. Left in the dust was blue-liner Dennis Seidenberg, who quite frankly, played like a sack of dog shit. Seidenberg forced turnovers all night - including a few at his own blue line and on the powerplay. #44 was not the only one to blame though.

After the circus act of a goal by Grabovski made the score 4-3 Leafs, the Bruins pulled the goalie in an attempt to nod the game at four. With about 0:23 seconds remaining, Milan Lucic fired a centering pass in the offensive zone that found the stick of David Krejci - which in turn found the stomach of Leafs netminder James Reimer. Krejci had the entire top right of the net open, but he appeared to hesitate before firing the puck, giving Reimer the time necessary to slide over and make the stop. Krejci had several chances in the contest and it's starting to become comical how much he lacks the ability to shoot to score.

Poor David couldn't score on/or with a blow-up doll at this point. I think he needs to get a visit from Chubbs Peterson, "Send it home Krejci, the puck wants to go to its home, send it home."
Other notes and things that caught my attention was Recchi on the powerplay. Don't get me wrong, the guy can move the puck, but when he has the rock at the point and a shot is needed - the guy refuses to. His shot is about as hard as my dingy after a 12 pack. Seriously Claude - Get him off there. If you want an affective powerplay, make a trade for a defenseman who is a powerplay specialist (Kaberle, Corvo). Worst case scenario Johnny Boychuk or Tyler Seguin both posess a 92 plus MPH slapshot on their resume - use one of those guys.

I thought Blake Wheeler and Michael Ryder played a pretty good sixty minutes. Wheeler was moving his feet, taking the body and creating chaos on the ice. I'm glad it only took 60 games for him to grow a set of marbles. Ryder, on the other hand, has been one of the best Bruins contributors over the last two or three weeks. See what happens when you don't smoke a bag of weed before games Michael !

Bergeron, Lucic, Marchand and Campbell also put in a good effort tonight. Seguin worked hard, seemed a bit confused at times, but hustled and grinded for loose pucks. Horton was a no show once again as he continues to upset Bruins fans. A final note is to keep an eye on Tim Thomas. He appears to be cooling down and his numbers are brutal over his past few starts. If Tuukka can stand on his head on this road trip, I wouldn't be surprised if they roll with the hot goaltender again this postseason. Could this mean Tuukka Time Part II ? We will have to wait and see.

Bruins open up a five game road trip on Thursday. A positive note is they are one of the best teams on the road this season. Don't jump off the Tobin yet. Still a long way to go. Cup or Bust !!
